San Martino’s battle

San Martino’s battle

Lithography by Felice Cerruti Bauduc, Torino, Lit. Giordana e Salussolia, 1860

Vittorio Emanuele II and Napoleon, after a series of victories, arrived triumphantly in Milan, but the hardest battle they had to face was that of Solferino and San Martino.
13.000 Austrian, 10.000 French and 4.000 Piedmontese, were on the ground, died or wounded, at the end of it.
